East Coast Line Construction: TEL5 - A snapshot in June 2025

With half the year since past, how have works on the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL)'s final phase progressed? As the stations have largely been completed, changes these days appear to be more minor in nature as compared to station progress along the Jurong Region Line (JRL) or at Xilin station on the Downtown Line (DTL) for example. Join us as we explore the slight progress seen in the first half of the year after the jump.

TE30 - Bedok South (Contract T311)
In a nutshell: Work on the station's exits, ancillary buildings and commuter infrastructure appear to be mostly completed. All 5 exits are also displaying the station's name signs clearly, without being masked. The public transport symbol caplets at the 5 exits are also clearly displayed. Around each exit, temporary barriers have been placed to block off access with warnings that trespassers would be handed over to the police. From what we know and what can be observed, works are about 95% completed and pending hand over to the Land Transport Authority (LTA) and SMRT.

TE31 - Sungei Bedok (Contract T312)
In a nutshell: The story at Sungei Bedok station was slightly different. While the station's exits were also largely completed, the station name signs were not in place as yet, instead covered as while sign holders to be completed in future. Panels in the covered linkway were missing on occasion, yet to be installed to full completion. Road and drainage construction works were in progress to turn the corner where Bedok Road and Upper East Coast Road met into a T-junction.
