11 February 2023 - Substantial cladding work is now visible at the station exits. |
We're back along the east coast to check up on progress at the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) stations along the eastern stretches after the massive 2022 year-end update previously. Work at contract T309, for the construction of Siglap station without any tunneling work, has ramped up with some major changes at Exits B and D. Cladding is now visible at both exits with substantial parts of the structure now covered in the off-white aluminium cladding.
Exit B (along Marine Parade Road, near Nallur Road)
Here's a reminder of how Exit B used to look at the end of last year:
|
3 December 2022 - Only the brackets for cladding mounting can be seen, but no actual aluminium cladding panels have been placed on the station exit structure itself. |
Exit B looks pretty different with the cladding in place now, and some semblance of the station's final form is beginning to take place. Previously all that one could see were the bare concrete structures, leaving one figuring out how the final station would look. Even with the renders it was tough to see how the final form would appear.

Exit D (Along Siglap Link, across the canal from Victoria School)
Here's a reminder of how the exit looked in end-2022:

Exit D now happens to be the exit with the biggest transformation, and likely, the most progress out of all the 4 station exits. Cladding works are at an advanced stage here, with stone cladding also forming part of the architectural works.

Ancillary building (near Exit D, further south along Siglap Link)
A station ancillary building is located close to Exit D. This structure does not appear to be using cladding, with painting of a similar pattern taking place on the concrete walls instead.

Exit A (Along Marine Parade Road, across from Victoria School)
This exit is likely has the slowest progress out of all the 4 exits for this station. Concrete structure works are still in progress, even in 2023. Here's a reminder of how the exit looked in 2022:

The exit was having some concrete work going on when we visited, likely to tie up some of the existing loose ends. However given that the majority of the station structure is complete, and the pace of work at the other station exits, we expect that cladding work should begin at this exit before long.

Exit C (Along Marine Parade Road, outside Laguna Park)
This exit is likely to be one of the main station exits, being a rather long structure that is hard to miss. It is also likely to sport the signature Siglap station look with its boxy, white motif. Here's a reminder of how the exit looked in 2022:

Whilst there isn't any cladding work going on, another layer of roofing work has taken place since our last visit to the station site, indicating that progress has not stagnated. Additional structures have also been installed in front of the exit and similar to Exit A, we believe that cladding work should commence shortly.
|
11 February 2023 - An additional layer of structure has been added to the cantilevered roofing. |
|
11 February 2023 - A new shelter structure now exists in front of the station exit. |
Overall, progress at Siglap station is encouraging seeing how cladding works have really picked up pace since our last visit slightly over 2 months back. Once the cladding work has been completed, other finishing works can also commence such as the installation of all the passenger information features and station signage. Meanwhile, here's a recap of the progress along the eastern stretch for your easy reference:
We'll be updating this chart at the end of each of our posts for Q1 2023 along this stretch of the TEL. Do keep a look out for our other upcoming posts.
