TEL 4 & 5 - A snapshot in February 2024

An overview of TEL4 & 5 stations TE23 to TE31 in early-February 2024.
Top (L - R): TE23 - Tanjong Rhu, TE24 - Katong Park, TE25 - Tanjong Katong
Middle (L - R): TE26 - Marine Parade, TE27 - Marine Terrace, TE28 - Siglap
Bottom (L - R): TE29 - Bayshore, TE30 - Bedok South, TE31 - Sungei Bedok

Last month was pretty busy with getting the year started. As such, we weren't able to do up a Snapshot for January 2024 and that's why we're doing the February one slightly earlier. Without further ado, here's the first consolidated update of the line section since our 2023-year end update!

Phase 4 stations
Most of the stations were recently handed over to operator SMRT - with the exception of Founders' Memorial station which will open in tandem with the memorial being constructed currently. With the stations due for opening soon, station signage has been going up allowing us to understand the layout and numbering of the exits at the stations.

TE22A - Founders' Memorial (Contract T302)
In a nutshell: The station will not open when the rest of the phase 4 stations do this year. However, the timeline for the completion of the station building, including mechanical, electrical and architectural finishes is the same as the rest of the stations. Signage has been put up at the station's exits, with some covered up since.

TE23 - Tanjong Rhu (Contract T303)
In a nutshell: The hoarding around the station has since come down with water barriers and temporary fencing demarcating the areas which are currently off limits to members of the public.

TE24 - Katong Park (Contract T305)
In a nutshell: Works are completed at the station and similarly, the hoarding around has since been removed. Katong Park is also the first station to have its locality map installed.

TE25 - Tanjong Katong (Contract T306)
In a nutshell: Signage has been installed at all 3 of the station's exits. We can see that Exits 1 & 3 have lift, stair & escalator access to the station. However, based on our best guesses, it may not be the case for Exit 2 which is likely to feature only lift & stair access.

TE26 - Marine Parade (Contract T307)
In a nutshell: None of the station's signage has been installed at any of the exits. As we have expected, Exits 1 through 3 are at a more advanced stage of completion as compared to Exits 4 through 6. If this section of the line were to be opened for revenue service in early-Q2, the last three exits would likely not open with the rest of the station's access. Exit 2 notably will also house the 2 lifts providing direct access to the underground bicycle parking facility. These 2 lifts will operate separately from that for the regular station access.

TE27 - Marine Terrace (Contract T308)
In a nutshell: The station exits all have received the station signage. Technically, with the inclusion of the direct access to the underground bicycle parking facility, the station should have 7 different exits. The project office which had doubled up as a carpark below has also been removed, with the work to remove the rigid pavement of the carpark ongoing.

TE28 - Siglap (Contract T309)
In a nutshell: This station-only contract has completed all works, including the covered linkways connecting to the station. Exit 2 features an integrated bus stop located within the station exit's shelter. Exit 4 is connected via a covered linkway to 2 bus stops on either end.

TE29 - Bayshore (Contract T310)
In a nutshell: The site has been cleaned up and the covered linkways since completed. The direct access to the underground bicycle parking facility is co-located near Exit 1 and the station cooling tower.

Phase 5 stations
The phase 5 stations will open the following year in 2025. Work on the stations has progressed to the architectural finishings where aluminum cladding panels are being installed ahead of finishing works.

TE30 - Bedok South (Contract T311)
In a nutshell: Aluminum cladding panels are being installed at Exits 1 through 3 and Exit 5. Exit 4 remains the slowest moving of the exits. Exit 1 will feature a green colour, Exit 2 features purple, while Exit 3 uses a blue scheme. Exit 5 will feature a yellow-orange scheme.

TE31 - Sungei Bedok (Contract T312)
In a nutshell: Unfortunately, Sungei Bedok station does not have any public housing in the vicinity that allows us to get updates via hard copy notices at the lift landings of the blocks. As such, the exact layout of the exits and their numbering is unable to be determined until the station signs are put up. Nonetheless, work continues at the site with the installation of cladding panels on one of the station exit's lift shaft.

With the opening of the line round the corner, it is gratifying to see the progress made. The MRT to the east coast is finally within sight! In view of the impending opening now that the line has been handed over to SMRT, we will begin our Q1 updates on the line sector shortly.

A condensed version of this post will be available on Instagram & Facebook on 12 February 2024.
