Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL)'s operator SMRT has recently added 4 stations along TEL4 to their list of retail units available for lease. The units available are located at Tanjong Rhu, Marine Parade, Siglap & Bayshore stations. We understand that retail units may also be available at Tanjong Katong and Marine Terrace stations although these are not currently listed on the SMRT retail arm's website.
With the listing of the retail units, the various floor plans of the stations have also become available for viewing. The available date provided on the website indicates "Stage 4" currently (which is not a date, but okay), and may roughly indicate that the units will be available in conjunction with the section's opening after 23 June 2024.
TE26 - Marine Parade
It is interesting to note the number of knock-out panels catered for at Marine Parade station. These may serve to connect to future developments, existing malls or other long-term developments planned for the area. Interestingly, the retail units above the cripple siding adjoining the station have not been released for lease as yet.

TE28 - Siglap
From the released floor plan, Siglap is one of the simpler stations to navigate with the unpaid area corridor running the length of the southern side of the station. This corridor connects all 4 of the station's exits together, allowing one to walk the entire length of the station in a straight line. Such feats are not possible at other stations which allow passengers to walk end-to-end, such as at Katong Park for instance.

TE29 - Bayshore
Unlike Siglap station, where one could walk in a straight line within the unpaid area from end-to-end, Bayshore adopts a layout full of twists and turns in the fare unpaid area. Commuters using Exit 2, located just outside the row of famous condominiums at the district, will have to unfortunately navigate several turns along the corridor to gain access to the train platform. We also understand that Bayshore station has several knock out panels, which will be used to connect the station to future developments above when the estate is further developed.

TE23 - Tanjong Rhu
The layout of Tanjong Rhu is rather strange, with the station's width being longer than its length (determined by the orientation of the platforms). Several knock out panels line the subway corridor connecting the main station box with Exit 2 at the station's northern end, across the river from the Sports Hub. Did you know that when trains stop at Tanjong Rhu, the two side platforms are not totally aligned exactly side by side? The Woodlands-bound platform extends further west than the Changi-bound platform and the Changi-bound platform sits further east than the Woodlands-bound platform. Check it out during the TEL4 preview by looking at where the lifts & escalators sit in comparison to the train at each platform.

One last tidbit before we end this post - did you know that each MRT station is identified by a 3-letter abbreviation? You may have noticed these letters on the TV screens showing the live CCTV feeds when you enter the fare paid areas of the TEL stations.
