T309 - Siglap progress update

Contract T309 is for the construction of Siglap station only, without any associated tunnels. The station will have 4 exits and will be built as a civil defence shelter. The assigned contractor is a joint venture by John Holland and Zhen Hua. Previously, John Holland successfully delivered the Jalan Besar station on the Downtown Line through another join venture.

Since ground breaking of the East Coast Line in July 2016, the John Holland - Zhen Hua join venture had their own site ground breaking ceremony in September 2016 to kick off works at T309. The station will be built using the top-down cut-and-cover method.

Slowly but surely, over the years, the site has undergone numerous traffic diversions to facilitate the construction of the station's retaining walls. Works have progressed to the construction of the temporary openings to allow subsequent excavation to the lower levels while concurrent casting of the slab progresses westwards.

Upcoming works at the site should include the continued casting of the roof slab and temporary openings. Excavation work will then progress downwards while concurrent casting of the various levels takes place.

  1. Any updates on the construction progress for Xilin MRT Station on the Downtown Line? How about Bayshore and Sungei Bedok?
