T312 - Sungei Bedok update Q2 2024

with Bedok Road in end-Q2.

Similar to Bedok South station, works over the past quarter for contract T312 have seen a larger focus on architectural works rather than structural works. Various fittings have gone in to the station's 4 exits, allowing them to resemble station exits more closely. It is also interesting to see the architectural features as they begin appearing.

mid-Q2.

Upper East Coast Road is set to be extended further east and connect with Laguna Golf Green once the works for the contract are completed. At the moment, the junction between Bedok Road and Upper East Coast Road still exists as a bend and has not been converted into a T-junction yet. Looking eastwards, the ancillary buildings for the station can be seen. Over the past quarter, at least one of the buildings has been painted in the station's paint scheme, somewhat reminiscent of the scheme used for Kaki Bukit station along the Downtown Line.

Works at Exits 1 and 2 are the most visible as Exits 3 and 4 are located within the worksite area that will see the extension of Upper East Coast Road and is hence not publicly accessible. In addition, due to worksite boundary reconfigurations, the portion of pathway where the exits could be viewed from previously has since been diverted in end-Q2, obscuring the view of these 2 exits.

Over at Exits 1 and 2, on the western end of the station, works have seen the continued installation of the exits' fittings such as staircase railings, glass panels, cladding and ceiling panels. As the exits are located near publicly accessible areas with pedestrian pathways nearby, it is fairly easy to get a decent look at the stations. Covered linkways are also in progress to connect the exits with nearby bus stop shelters and pick-up/drop-off shelters. These adopt a similar design to those being constructed at neighbouring Bedok South station.

With works progressing steadily and the section's opening pushed back to 2026, there should be sufficient time for the contractor to complete any outstanding works. Do check back as we periodically update on the section's progress, although this may be relegated to monthly snapshot updates rather than the deep dives based on contracts that we have been doing previously.
