TEL5 - A snapshot in October 2024

A view of both TEL5 stations in October 2024.

Works at the Thomson-East Coast Line phase 5 (TEL5) stations continues on through Q4 of 2024. With the structural works all completed, the works are focused on the architectural and mechanical & electrical elements. We take a closer look at the two stations in greater detail after the jump.

TE30 - Bedok South (Contract T311)
In a nutshell: Towards the end of the month, a new road above the station was opened. The roadway - Bayshore Drive - allows commuters to connect from Bedok South Road to the new up and coming estate at Bayshore. The new roadway runs past Exits 2 and 3 of the station, allowing passersby a closer look at either exit. All the station's exits were relatively completed, save for some finishing touches at the exit roof edges. Within the exits, LED arrival display boards could be seen hung from the ceiling. At this point though, no station name signboards were seen.

TE31 - Sungei Bedok (Contract T312)
In a nutshell: Works were progressing well with the first public transport symbol caplet making an appearance at the station. With interior works catching up, a station name signboard was also visible at Exit 1, along with the LED arrival display board and other way finding light boards. Exit 2, on the other hand, featured the public transport symbol caplet along with an interior that sported the station's green livery. Overall, Exit 2 appeared to be relatively completed although the station name signboard or LED arrival display board were not seen. Further along, although views of Exits 3 and 4 were obscured, what could be seen of the two exits showed them to be relatively completed as well. Finally, cladding works were ongoing for the station's ventilation shaft. Further west of the station, the stretch of cut & cover tunnel towards Bedok South station had been completed with road and commuter facility infrastructure reinstated.
