23 September 2023 - A view of Exit 3, one of the furthest along in progress. |
Progress over the past quarter at Bedok South station has been a little mixed. 2 of the exits - Exits 2 & 3 - are located in a greenfield site. These exits have been further ahead in progress for a while now as they are located in a rather undeveloped tract of land, akin to that of Bayshore station. The remaining 3 exits for the station - Exits 1, 4 & 5 - sit further away from the main station box and are slower in progress. That said, the level of completion of Exits 2 & 3 do not appear to have progressed over the past quarter in a visible manner as compared to the other 3.
Exit 1
Major differences noted over the past quarter include the installation of the metal roof frame of the exit. Initially a rusty red, a base coat of silver paint is applied. Subsequently, the final coat of dark grey paint is applied, giving the station its distinctive look that will be easily identifiable to commuters using the station.

Exit 2
Located just outside the replacement driving range for Laguna Golf Course, this exit is not as easily accessible nor viewable from Upper East Coast Road itself. Nonetheless, this is one of the exits that has been ahead of the rest for some time now. Nonetheless, due to the remote location of the exit, any progress made over the past quarter is not as visible.

Exit 3
Similar to Exit 2, this exit is one of the more remote exits. However views of the exit can be had from the nearby Bedok South Horizons BTO precinct. We are able to get a closer view and honestly there is not much to report about progress-wise.

Exit 4Of the 5 exits for the station, this is the exit with the slowest progress, potentially due to its location directly outside Temasek Secondary School. The metal roof frame was only recently installed.

Exit 5
The most apparent progress over the past quarter can be seen at Exit 5, located directly outside Bedok South Horizons BTO precinct. Around the early to middle of the quarter, the metal roof frame was installed. By the end of the quarter, it had been painted and the roof panels installed.

With approximately 1.5 years to go till the expected completion date of the contract, there is still sufficient time for the station to be completed. We look forward to more milestones being hit along the way and the eventual reinstatement of roads and services along the contract site.
