T310 - Bayshore update Q3 2023

Bayshore station was built on a greenfield site that provided the contractor, Woh-Hup - Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co some convenience in being able to construct the station without having to be wary of utility lines that must be handled with care. While there were other challenges to consider, such as the location of an old sea wall that might have impacted tunneling and excavation, the location of the station brought about other benefits when it came to construction methods. The station is one of the few, if not the only station, along phase 4 that could be built using the bottom-up method. This method of construction without having to worry about constrained worksites, likely contributed to the station's quick construction. We take a closer look at the progress made over the past quarter in this post.

With the major structural works out of the way, works have been focused on the architectural elements of the station in the last quarter. Akin to many of the fellow stations along Phase 4 of the line, finishing touches are being put in place ahead of the handover to the client - the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

Exit 3
This exit, located along Bayshore Road and behind the Alphabet Playhouse Preschool is a little isolated for the moment. It is not easy to go up close to the exit to check out the degree of completion of works so the team was only able to observe from afar. Nonetheless, this exit appears to be significantly completed. Works over the past quarter have focused on the commuter facilities infrastructure such as the covered linkway connecting to an existing bus stop along Upper East Coast Road and a pick-up/drop-off shelter located next to the station.

Exit 1
Located next to the southbound carriageway of Bayshore Road, this exit is co-located with an ancillary building/cooling tower for the station. Over the past quarter both buildings have since had their respective sites tidied up significantly. Very much like Exit 3, the exit and ancillary building sit on an isolated plot that is difficult to get near to in order to observe the level of works completion.

month.

Exit 2
Fortunately, unlike the previous two exits, this exit is located in a much more accessible area along the northbound carriageway of Bayshore Road. Over the past quarter, the finishing have made progress with the cladding being completed and the installation of tiling touched up.

6 August 2023 - Part of the station cladding system has not been completed yet.

23 September 2023 - The station exit's cladding has now been fully completed. The LED train
arrival display board is also lit up.

Exit 4 (left) & Exit 5 (right)
The pair of exits, located along the newly opened Bayshore Drive, will likely become 2 of the station's key entry points once the future Bayshore estate is developed. As these exits have been completed for some time now, there has not been much change, if any, over the past quarter due to the degree of completion.

Commuter facilities infrastructure
With work on the station's structure largely complete and in the final touch up phase, work has shifted towards the installation of commuter facilities infrastructure. This includes covered linkways to bus stops and the construction of pick-up/drop-off points. Significant progress has been made, especially along the linkway connecting Exit 3 to the bus stop along Upper East Coast Road as seen earlier.

23 September 2023 - Installation of the pick-up/drop-off shelter underway along the northbound
carriageway of Bayshore Road.

23 September 2023 - Covered linkway works in progress. This will likely connect to Exit 2.

23 September 2023 - A temporary decking has been installed near the
bus stop along Upper East Coast Road. The pedestrian footpath
here may be upgraded to cater for the covered linkway.

With works substantially completed, the station may be one of the first to be handed over to the LTA. Do stay tuned as we continue to bring you updates on the progress of the line's construction in the lead up to its opening next year.
