Bedok South was in the news recently, when the Land Transport Authority (LTA) updated that phase 5 of the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL)'s opening would be pushed from 2025 to 2026 owing to delays at Xilin station. Due to the integrated fire protection system at Sungei Bedok station where the lines intersect, the lines cannot be opened separately. Nonetheless, progress is on track at Bedok South station with all 5 exits now proceeding with construction work well above surface level. We take a look at the progress made over Q1 of the year in greater detail after the jump.
Exit 1
The 5 exits of Bedok South all feature different colour schemes - similar to how the 4 North East Line exits at Serangoon station featured individual colour schemes. However over at Bedok South, the locations of the exits is not as straightforward as that of being located at each of the 4 corners of a junction. Exit 1 is located along Upper East Coast Road and features a green colour scheme.
Cladding was being applied to the exterior and interior walls of the exit at surface level while roofing has been completed. Internal components such as the lift and escalators were already installed. The display for the lift could also be seen working displaying that it is under maintenance during our latest visit to the site in March 2024. Other components such as the wiring and lighting remain to be installed however. The cladding's external design employs rectangular pieces assembled in a myriad of shades of the colour which, unfortunately, gives the exit a rather cheap look reminiscent of the design used at some temporary bus interchanges.

Exit 2
This exit is located further in, away from any existing developments along Upper East Coast Road, and will serve the future town to be built above. A future integrated transport hub will be located here as well. Exit 2 features a purple colour scheme and is the most advanced of the 5 station exits.

Exit 3
This exit is also co-located with Exit 2 along a future road to serve new developments further south from the existing estate. From Bayshore station, the exit can be seen along a newly paved roadway in the distance. Exit 3 features a blue colour scheme and is the second most advanced in progress among the 5 station exits.

Exit 4
This exit is the least advanced of the 5 station exits but has made decent progress over the quarter. The roof frame has been installed, cladding works begun and the noise barriers taken down within the period. Exit 4 features a red colour scheme.

Exit 5
The final exit of the station is one of the more easily accessible exits, being located along Upper East Coast Road in front of Bedok South Horizons build-to-order (BTO) precinct. The exit has taken shape with a yellow-orange colour scheme being used. Cladding has progressed and the installation of internal components such as wiring and lighting is ongoing. Temporary lighting is used to illuminate the exit's interior for the time being.

LTA has also issued circulars on the ongoing works for the next quarter at the station site via a newly set up Telegram group for the contract. The circular details the works taking place at the various locations on site.
