T309 - Siglap update Q1 2024

17 March 2024 - A view of the Siglap station site.

Siglap station is pretty much complete with only some landscaping remaining to be done. Oh, and perhaps a few signs to install. But other than that, the station is completed. Designed by architectural firm SAA Architects, this is the second of the stations designed by the firm that feature exits using a concrete shell encased in cladding. It also happens to be the last of the stations designed by them along this stretch to use this method. With works completed, all that is left to do is to tidy up the site and await for opening day.

Exit 1
Located next to the canal opposite the Victoria School, this exit manages to squeeze in stair, escalator and lift access all into one location. The exit itself is completed and merely waiting for the station to open. No other works are necessary.

Exit 2
This exit opens beautifully into the Siglap Linear Park, where the entry plaza has been integrated seamlessly. It also features an integrated bus stop shelter for commuters hopping from the MRT to one of the bus services that ply along Marine Parade Road, offering onward connections. Largely completed, save for the installation of a few signs near the lift, the exit is ready to be placed into action.

Exit 3
A quiet, isolated exit has been relatively complete for some time now. With all the lights, station signs and LED train arrival boards in working condition, the exit is primed for opening day. Landscaping has taken place around the exit with a few remaining patches to work out.

Exit 4
The station's final exit also happens to be the largest amongst the 4. It features separate entrance porticos for the lift access and stair/escalator access. Also integrated into the exit's structure is a pick-up/drop-off shelter where commuters can wait for connecting rides. Like the other exits, the lights are turned on in the evenings and all appears good to go.

Ancillary building
The final surface building for the station is found between Exits 2 and 3 which is the station's ancillary building. It is here that condenser units for the station's cooling system are housed along with other ventilation equipment. Bicycle racks can also be found just outside the building, offering space for commuters to park and ride.
