T3206 - Conversion of the Changi Airport Line

Today the Land Transport Authority (LTA) placed contract T3206 up for tender. Judging from the contract title, it can be expected that this would concern the conversion of the existing 6-car, 4-doors per side per car line into a 4-car, 5-doors per side configuration. To do this, the signaling system for the line may need to be changed out or upgraded and the platform screen gates and doors changed out to meet the door opening locations as well.

21 August 2015 - A view of the Expo station with platform screen gates installed for a 6-car,
4-door per side configuration.

21 August 2015 - The expo station with signage under the East-West Line airport branch.

21 May 2020 - A view of the Changi Airport station platform which uses platform doors for
a 6-car system with 4-doors per side.

25 April 2023 - Platform screen doors at the Changi Airport station.

According to the delivery date for the contract, works are expected to be completed by July 2031. During the conversion period, the line is likely to be linked up with the new East Coast Integrated Depot, currently under construction next to the existing Changi Depot on the East-West Line. More details will be released in time to come with reference to the conversion of the existing Changi Airport Line to the Thomson-East Coast Line.
