Moving along eastwards, the next station along the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) is Tanjong Katong. The station is located at the intersection of Meyer Road & Tanjong Katong Road South with 3 exits. Exit A is located directly in front of the Aalto condominium, Exit B along Tanjong Katong Road South & Exit C at the intersection of the two roads. The station's exits feature a beige cladding, consistent with the stone influences of other stations designed by DP Architects under contract E1003 - Tanjong Rhu & Katong Park.
Exit A
Whilst metal roofing works are ongoing, this exit also has cladding works underway as well. Works are making great headway with the eventual shape of the station's exits and commuter facilities taking shape.

Exit B
This exit is located along Tanjong Katong Road South and will feature two structures. The more northerly of the two will house escalators and the lift to access the concourse level while the more southerly structure will house the stairs. Work at this exit is at a less advanced stage than Exit A, with cladding works yet to start as of late-February.

Exit C
The final exit of the station features a large skylight that will allow natural light to filter down onto the station's concourse level. Works are split between cladding works and installation of the commuter facilities such as the canopy for the pick up-drop off (PUDO) shelter and connecting covered linkways. Cladding at this exit is a mix between beige stone, grey granite and brown earthy tones. Work to come up with the final pedestrian walkways and vehicular roadway is also underway here.

Cooling tower/Ventilation shaft
Right behind Exit C is a cooling tower/ventilation shaft building. Equipment is being installed within here to support the overall station operations by allowing air conditioning condensers to produce cool air and tunnel ventilation to be refreshed.

Ancillary building
And finally, right behind Exit A, is a small ancillary building. Much like the earlier cooling tower/ventilation shaft building, this too will help to support the overall station's operations. Cladding work is well underway here with the building featuring the trademark Tanjong Katong biege.

Progress here is consistent with other neighbouring stations along this stretch of the line as cladding works are well under way and commuter infrastructure is beginning to emerge. The finishing touches to the structures are becoming apparent as the line heads into its last legs of construction before systems installation and testing begin in earnest.

TEL Tracker update with Tanjong Katong station. |
We are glad to see the progress made on the eastern stretch of the TEL and look forward to other installations becoming more apparent - such as signage and public information systems. The installation of the LED passenger information systems that display train arrival timings near the station exits will likely be a good indicator of when the line has commenced test and trial running.
