As the opening of the section along the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL)'s phase 4 draws nearer, we check in at the progress of works at Marine Terrace station. The station was designed by local architecture firm SAA Architects, now part of the Surbana Jurong group. Featuring 6 entrances along the station's length, construction was completed by a joint venture between Korea's Ssangyong & Hyundai Engineering & Construction. Works at the station are largely completed, save for some portions of road reinstatement, installation of commuter facilities and landscaping around the work site.
Exit 1
This exit forms the centrepiece of the station, being the largest exit located smack in the middle of the Housing & Development Board (HDB) estate that the station serves. The area behind the exit was where the community plaza stood before construction works for the station began. Subsequently, it housed a replacement car park with the project's site offices sited on top. This has since been demolished as the project comes to completion, allowing for the site to be returned to the community once again.

Exit 3
Located along Telok Kurau Road, the exit is completed with all the interior lights and station name signs illuminated at night. Only the public transport logo caplet was not illuminated during our visit. During the day, skylights at the exit allow natural light to filter in, casting shadows along the wall which results in a pleasing effect.

Access to underground bicycle parking facility
Finally we come to the dedicated access to the underground bicycle parking facility. Based on observations, it appears that this direct access - integrated with the station's cooling tower - may not feature lift access. Works have substantially completed over the past quarter with the hoarding coming down and being replaced with temporary construction netting instead.

With works mostly wrapping up, its time for a new chapter at Marine Terrace with the arrival of the MRT in the neighbourhood. We shall see how the MRT's arrival impacts the estate.
