Tanjong Katong station along Tanjong Katong Road South has pretty much wrapped up most of its construction. Work within the last quarter has been focused on the finishing touches, such as completing the skylight that will allow natural light to illuminate the concourse area. We'll be updating this post in a month-by-month format.
Recap of the station layout
Tanjong Katong station, being built by Woh Hup under contract T306, is a stacked side platform station. The platforms at this station will be on the northern edge of the station (doors open on left side for Sungei Bedok bound trains & on the right side for Woodlands bound trains). The station will feature 3 to 4 exits, depending on how LTA decides to number them. Two exits are located along Amber Road and one along the southbound carriageway of Tanjong Katong Road South. The latter exit will be split into two sections, with one section housing escalators and lift access and the remaining section housing the staircase.

August 2023
The station appears mostly complete, save for minor works to tie up some loose ends. Most of the work had, by then, shifted to the supporting commuter facilities infrastructure. Shelters for covered linkways, bus stop shelters and pick-up/drop-off shelters. Permanent road reinstatement had not commenced yet, however.

September 2023
As with the previous month, works continued to focus on completing the commuter facilities infrastructure. Hopefully LTA can allow for quick completion, allowing commuters to make use of the facilities even if the station is not open yet. The reinstatement of the road with permanent kerbs had begun.

Road reinstatement works should continue till the entire stretch is completed. Once hoarding comes down at the work site, work can commence on the landscaping and beautification works as well. Recent news suggests that train integration tests will be conducted to ensure that all phases of the TEL are able to function seamlessly together. This will entail the early closure of the existing operational sections of the line over several weekends to enable the tests to be run. Following the client (LTA)'s operational tests, the system will be handed over to the operator - SMRT. The operator will then need to conduct staff familiarisation and training sessions before the line can be opened, likely to be in the first half of 2024.
Till the line becomes operational, we'll continue to provide updates on the progress. You can expect us to do a round of updates to wrap up the year and likely a few more posts in the coming year before we move on to focus entirely on TEL5. Stay tuned for more updates in the mean time!
