Bedok South is the first of 2 stations located along the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) phase 5. Due to the station being located on an undeveloped plot of land, it was possible to use an open-cut to construct the station. Furthermore, this also allowed for the use of pre-fabricated segments to help speed up the construction process. The station has been fully back-filled over with different exits in differing levels of completion.

Exits 2 and 3 will be located along a future roadway to be built, serving a future Housing & Development Board (HDB) estate in the Bayshore area. As these exits are located in the least developed areas of the site, they are also the ones at the most advanced stage of construction. Exit 3 in particular, has the metal frame for the roofing being installed.

3 December 2022 - Lift shaft installation at Exit 5.

Exit 5, located in front of the Bedok South Horizons HDB precinct, is at the next stage of completion amongst the 5 exits being built at the station. The lift shaft frame has been recently installed and work to install the exit's escalators was due to commence according to circulars displayed at the HDB blocks. There is very little above-ground concrete structure as the exits will primarily use metal & glass to form the structure, similar to that at Bayshore station.

16 December 2022 - Excavation pit for Exit 4.

Exits 1 and 4 are at the least advanced stage of construction with the excavation pits still wide open. There is little to see at street level at these exits apart from some stumps at Exit 1 where, presumably, the metal frames for the roof will be secured to.

The project information centre (PIC) near Marine Terrace station site also features displays for the TEL 5 stations. A project panel showcases pertinent information about the station whilst the 3D architectural model shows cross section and plan views of the future station. The station exits will feature a similar design across with variations in the colour to aid passenger navigation. We were able to identify at least 3 differing colours.

The station is at a pretty advanced stage of construction, but not on par with the stations along TEL Phase 4 which mostly have escalators installed already. The station is likely unable to achieve basic structural completion for its exits as yet either, although this is likely possible for the main station structure itself. With Exits 2 and 3 moving onto the roof structure, the station may be progressing to interior works as well. The coming year should see the completion of the remaining exits and back-filling on top of the areas not yet covered up.
